Art has always been a huge part of my life, and it was definitely one of my biggest reasons for living in New York. I loved attending gallery openings, and visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art for exhibitions. And of course attending the Fashion Institute of Technology was a dream come true. The museum at F.I.T was a bit of a hidden gem, and an escape amidst all the chaos of being a fashion design major.

Apart from art, another obsession of mine is fairy tales. Therefore, an exhibition at F.I.T regarding fairy tales is the most amazing combination that my dreams are made of, and I am truly heart-broken that I am not in NYC getting to see the show in person. IF you are lucky enough to be in my favorite city, be sure to go see it before it ends on April 16, 2016!

Fairy Tale Fashion exhibition attempts to bridge the gap between the significance of dress within fairy tales and the use of the term “fairy tale” in fashion journalism and photography. Not all of the designs featured were inspired directly by the stories they represent, but they can be easily linked to the stories’ texts. This imaginative approach is influenced by the countless creative ways that fairy tales have been illustrated over time, as artists often must rely on limited descriptions to depict their characters.

Check out the online exhibition if you can’t go!
